It's a shame the last day of the year began with the clouds swollen with snow as tonight heralds a blue full moon. That's the second full moon of the month, a phenomenon known as a blue moon. So actually a blue moon isn't a rarity, it occurs once every 2.7 years. On top of which we are graced with a full moon lunar eclipse in Cancer. Read more about that eclipse.
